3 easy methods to improve your website traffic

There are many methods that are used to increase a business’s website traffic. Here are 3 easy methods to improve your website traffic. Some are organic and others are paid. It is usually advised that clients do as much as they can to create multiple streams of traffic to their website in order to increase their potential client base and convert them into clients.

In this blog post, we will be discussing 3 such methods.

PPC Ads

Different PPC channels

A business can use many different PPC channels to grow or increase its website traffic. There are channels such as social media paid ads which we will discuss later and there are search engine ads such as BING Ads and Google Ads.

In this section, we will discuss search engine ads like BING and Google. Google Ads is the most popular with the most amount of users searching for something online daily. Google ads allow companies to develop high converting PPC campaigns for lead generation.

How do you do it?

The first step would be to determine how many leads you require or how much traffic you require. Once that is determined you can open up Google ads and check the keyword planner out to ensure you can select the correct keywords and effectively bid on certain keywords.

Following that, it is a good idea to carefully plan out your PPC account. The different Ad sets and campaigns you plan to run.

How much time does it take to do it correctly?

Depending on a number of variables, you could set up your ad campaign and start running ads right away. However, we have found that over the first 3-6 months the focus on the campaign should be a lower CPC, improved CVR and CRO.

Pros and cons

Whilst starting a campaign is quick and easy, optimising it for a low CPC and improving the quality of the conversions take time. As mentioned up to about 3-6 months.

SEO

What is SEO?

SEO is a form of marketing that is used to improve your organic rankings on search engines. Methods usually entail white-hat SEO techniques that help improve your rankings in a sustainable way that doesn’t compromise your rankings later through manual actions and penalties.

How do you do it?

There are various ways you would go about performing SEO for your business. These are some of the ways in the SEO ranking process.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is the most important start to an on-page SEO campaign. If you don’t correctly target the right keywords, it could hamper the growth of the campaign. An example would be to target keywords with commercial intent, that have a high search volume and a low search difficulty.

Search difficulty

Search difficulty refers to the amount of competition targeting a certain keyword and how “good” those sites are. Certain metrics include Domain authority and page authority, these are two of a few indicators you would assess.

Targeted landing pages

Using targeted landing pages is helpful from not only a ranking perspective but also a conversion rate perspective. You will find that hyper optimised pages rank quicker and also convert higher due to the page being built for that target keyword. This is called search query relevance.

Link building

There are two main link building methods you can use to improve your rankings. One is guest posting and the other is getting links to content on a specific page. With guest posting, you get a link to your website by posting on another person’s website. This should be confused with PNB networks. A great example would be a finance firm writing a blog post for a financial news website discussing current fiscal policy changes in government. That would be a guest post linking back to your site and providing the reader with your credibility and insight into financial markets. Another approach is to write blog post content that is complete, thorough and in-depth on a specific topic. As other websites see the information, they link out to it as a resource (like a citation for example). You will find you get many links from a post like that. This is sometimes called the skyscraper technique.

Blog posting for topical relevancy

Blog posting for topical relevance is something we truly love. Using blog posts for interlinking purposes helps improve the website’s rankings and also helps the user/ searcher out by offering more useful information to help the searcher. It also helps with the amount of “complete” information on the website.

How much time does it take to do it correctly?

SEO takes time. This is well known. How much time? Well, that largely depends on a number of different factors and variables but you could say between 6-9 months is a good place to start. You see, it takes time because google has to trust you first. The idea is to add quality pages to your website, loads of supporting blog posts and build up links to the website to increase your authority. This does take time and shouldn’t be done all at once but rather over a period of time.

Pros and cons

Pros – SEO can improve brand awareness, improve overall rankings and help you collect more leads than not.

Cons – SEO can be expensive and time-consuming in order to achieve the rankings you may require. Many business owners are impatient and lack understanding.

Social media campaigns – organic and paid

Different social media channels

There are many different social media platforms one can use to generate website traffic from. It’s important to keep in mind the demographic of your target audience and the usual demographic of the platform. Social media platforms usually generate certain age groups. For example, the average users on Facebook, Instagram and tick-tock are very different, from a demographic and psychographic perspective. Tick tock seems to be a much younger audience than Facebook.

How do you do it?

There are numerous ways to leverage social media for traffic to your website. Here are a few:

  • Organic growth and traffic – organic traffic can be built by focusing on growing your social media account. A benefit of this is it is free but takes time to grow the channel and also there isn’t a direct relationship between a high amount of followers and high revenue. The goal is to convert these people into lifelong customers. An easy way of doing this is to add a call to action at the bottom of the post. Something along the lines of having your URL, email address and phone number to call the business.
  • Paid Traffic – Paid traffic is exactly what it says it is. You run social media ads directly to a high converting landing page on your website in the hopes of converting that traffic to paying customers.

How much time does it take to do it correctly?

To grow an account it can take a few months if done correctly to see the correct amount of traffic coming to your site. Paid traffic is immediate however, optimisation and campaign improvement can take about 3-5 months before the campaign is a top performer.

Pros and cons

This method can either be expensive, time-consuming or both. They do work though.

To conclude this post, to increase your website traffic, you may need a holistic approach to your website traffic. Using a combination of all of these methods can help you get the leads you need. Use all of them until you rank.
